SGT (Join to see) This is why I am very careful with ANY program that claims it is freeware in the Windows world. I understand developers need to make money, but hiding extra programs behind obscure install dialogs is NOT cool.

SGT (Join to see) It started even before that. 1998's Netzero is one example that springs to mind. Yes, they offered free internet, but you had to install their connection client. This client would then display adds that you had to click on at regular intervals. Some of these adds were known to install some bad stuff automatically.

SGT (Join to see) - I think you are correct. I had to use it for about 6 months, and it was very annoying. I think that is why I have such a low tolerance for adds on webpages.

SSgt Mark Lines - Now it's considered an art of strategy. That's why I removed Adsense so quickly and Project Wonderful after a short time. Now, I prefer affiliate ads that don't change unless I do it - more consistent, less invasive.
