This is some scary stuff. China sees the future as who ever becomes the expert of AI, will rule the world. For the infantry, think of AI as the high ground of this century. If we do not have the best, we will lose. We need to climb the tallest mountain and get the high ground. Looking down on the enemy with a superiority and a superior position. Read China's 2025 and 2050 planning documents. Very bold, very direct. They are a superior race/people and should have a stronger position in the world order. (They are the number 2 in the world. Russia is small...1/6th the size of CH. ) China is in direct competition with USA. The loser will be the subject of China.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint Agreed, sir. We need to start looking 20-25 years down the road. These 5-10 year game plans, clearly, don't work. There needs to be a set goal in mind, regardless of whatever political party comes and goes.
I think the Space Force/Corps is a good first step, since they will be focusing on cyber and satellites. Perhaps that's why they were ramped up so fast?

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint I think another thing that "stands in our way" is the private industry. Now, this is NOT a knock on the private industry, by any means. What I mean by that is, they can pull their participation in any military AI projects at any time. Just look at Google and Project Maven. When they pulled out of that, it set the project back a little. The private industry is going to pull all of our most talented away from military service because, lets face it, we can't compete w/ 6-figure salaries.
