It seems that gofundme has morphed into a way to pay lawyers. However, unlike Comey or Brennan, whistleblower guy still works for the government, and is profiting (regardless of how he spends this money) from his official status as a federal employee with a whistleblower complaint.
As for the donors, who cares? I know I don't.
They are demonstrating their adherence to the axiom "there is a sucker born every minute".
