(I know that sounds ancient) If you had nothing else to do, just go to the airport. Someone was always leaving home to move to the mainland and there would be a party in the concourse. Music, food, dancing. It didn't matter that you weren't invited. The party simply enveloped you. A real friendly place full of friendly people.
