My high school had a rifle team and there never was any incidents involving firearms. Nowadays, students have been caught carrying in classes to actually killing classmates in this area.

Certainly could go and since the NY gun control laws have been in place crimes involving shooting have gone even though the base population has remained approximately the same.

Before we get rid of those idiotic laws about "gun free zones", there is need to repeal the "Gun Free School Zone Act" (GFSZA), which makes a federal felon out of -----
o An off-duty LEO dropping off his child at school (unless he also has a "qualified" CCW issued by the state where that school is located, a senseless redundancy to his badge and ID)
o Any LEO legally armed under "Law Enforcement Officer's Safety Act" (LEOSA) within 1,000 feet of a school zone
o Any out-of-state CCW holder whose permit is honored by the state he is carrying in, since the federal law refuses to honor that reciprocity, if he is within 1,000 feet of a school zone
o Any holder of a CCW that is not "qualified" by police review and approval of an applicant.
To see how easily a peaceable, otherwise law-abiding citizen, can become a federal felon, look at this map of the "gun free zones" of San Francisco. The same situation of unavoidable "no gun" territory will exist in any city.
