What message does this send to the Sailors proudly serving on that ship? Is the President's ego really that fragile? If so, is he fit to be the Commander-in-Chief?

You can not blame trump for this It appears that his staff was just trying to prevent a tantrum,even his staff does not trust him to act like adult.

I doubt the veracity of this story, but it does have a possibility of being true.
I could see staff being involved in this. They are very conscious of things like background in pictures.
I really don't think that Trump is even aware that the USS McCain is home ported there.
