Actually the details of nuclear trigger decisions and processes are highly classified and limited to those with a bonafide need to know, my friend LTC (Join to see)
That being said the fictional Dr. Strangelove is one of my all time favorite movies. Peter Sellers, George C Scott, Slim Pickens and the rest made a great movie.

As Someone that was on the SAS Team for a Nuclear Tipped SUBROC USS California CGN-36, I love it. As Someone that used to go to DIA Courier Runs to COMSUBGRU 9 Bangor, WA, I love it. As Someone that has walked on top of USS Ohio SSBN-726 while She was undergoing convert to SSGN, I love it. As Someone that Grew Up on the Kansas Missouri Zipper Line of ICBMs, I love it.
