I concur with you that is a very confusing title COL Ted Mc. Thankfully hope is still alive even in areas where the people are in desperate straits.
That is certainly a poorly constructed and unfocused article. It mentions that Israel is the only land occupying somebody else's [my paraphrase]. They seem to ignore ISIL occupying large sections of Iraq and Syria and moving into Libya. Russia is reasserting itself against the Ukraine.
Confusing Biblical prophecy with economic and populations distribution situations at a point in time always leads to confusion.
