Interesting, but the writer missed a key point. Cars last longer today. buying a used car is less of a risk than it was 10 years ago. I work car parts store as a hobby the people buying parts, having check engine lights checked, etc have normally well over 100K miles. The vehicles look good and still function well. I have two vehicles both with more than 100K miles - with just routine maintenance mileages is what it was when new, cylinder compression near perfect, interior looks like new. In short used cars can be a great value and they have lost the new car depreciation. We even have scents to make them smell like new!
