Yeah and China has always wanted to get even. Even though this Japan for the most part is a different Japan.

Pure guess here, but betting China's military patterned after Soviet/Russian concept while Japan's is more like the US concept. This means that China's front line fighters are not thinkers but purely forces that carry out the directions from a centralized organization/authority; if they aren't told to do something they won't do it, period. Japan is more centered on reacting to the situation in front of them and doing what needs to be done without waiting to be told what to do by a central authority. China's massive amounts of manpower and equipment would probably win in the long run, but not without considerable cost.

That's a good comparison and contrast. I have never thought about it like that but it's true.it doesn't help too that China conscripts it's troops as well and it doesn't have a good track record of recruiting the best and brightest in fact the Chinese military looses about almost 400,000 because they get medically separated or can't meet physical requirements. I mean we got a simular problem but it's not nearly as bad because we screen people better and are looking for more quality over quantity.

Its the way we were trained as penetrating aircraft in SAC, if they can't talk to their regional authority they pretty much don't know what to do and too scared to take action unless told to.

Interesting. Really question the statement that Japan's air and naval forces can rival China's. As for all the TV shows where Japanese military is the enemy; I'm sure the U.S. is also represented as the enemy. All you can do is laugh. It's expected.
