By the source, I guess you mean the New York Post, which, yeah, is a screaming, sensationalist tabloid. But the author is Ralph Peters, who has better insight and reasoning then most of the commentators in media that I encounter in my perusal of the news.
Anyway, I have watched administration after administration talk about how we aren't going to accept North Korea developing nuclear weapons (or Iran developing nuclear weapons) and yet, the North Koreans (and I suspect Iran as well, various news pieces to the contrary) seem to be proceeding along without much hindrance. It's really only amazing how it's managed to take them so long.
If you were a dictator and wanted to be able to engage in all manner of horror and evil without the responsible and militarily powerful nations interfering, what would you be investing in right now? That's right. Nukes. It instantly neuters Western politicians.
So, what we can expect a lot more of? Nukes.
Sooner or later, we're going to have to figure out how to win a war with somebody that has them. We'll be forced to.
