As a former police officer, I'd say that humans are a very irrational species. That's what makes law enforcement such a demanding and challenging AND extremely difficult profession.

Yet... the irony is in the fact that we (humans) can acknowledge that fact; "that we can be irrational. That's rational in itself.
There is a rare society of enlightened renaissance men/women but they tend to get scrutinized by the overwhelming irrationality and ignorance.
