Why I Don't Want and Don't Deserve Reparations
The Reparations Movement — a government payout to descendants of slaves — is making a comeback. Super Bowl star Burgess Owens, who happens to be black and whose great grandfather was a slave, finds this movement both condescending and counterproductive. He wants no part of it. Excellent video brother Mark I’ve never understood why the blacks think the whites owe them. True salary was wrong but it was their own people who were selling them and from what I’ve read there were a few slave owners who treated them bad but the majority of them treated them fine and even worked in the fields beside them. They raise hell over here about the way it was but in truth Slavery is alive and still continues in Africa to this day but the African-Americans doesn’t say anything about it. If there so concerned about salivary that happened over 100 years ago why aren’t they concerned about slavery going on today in Africa involving only the black people. I’m a sixth generation creek Indian my people were killed for their land and freely given to the white Settlers paid for by my ancestors Blood. Black people then were given land, Indian land Free paid only by my Ancestors blood but hear in the present time we live among all races in peace after all that was taken from my people including their life. There is not another race here on earth that has done more for another race than the whites helping the blacks but do they appreciate it no they demand more and more. They have no right to demand anything the whites are doing their part but it’s the blacks that’s not doing there’s. The young black teenager is completely out of control shooting other black teenagers and robbing stores at an alarming rate. Down in Macon a few miles south of me there have been 48 murders all committed by young black kids. I’m not saying white teenagers are perfect because there’re not far from it but there’re not running around shooting people blacks are killing blacks at a alarming rate across America and only the black people can fix it. Working together instead of fighting we the people owe it to America to straighten it out

It is true that the descendants of those who were slaves and those lived through all the laws meant to disadvantage black people have ultimately been disadvantaged as their families have not had the same capability to accumulate wealth.
Having said that, I don't think a single cash payout will do anything. We can see the probable results for many when looking at what happens to lottery winners. I'm not saying they would be winning the lottery, just that the money will likely go away without really changing anything and they are only going to get one shot at this.
If we really want to do something for these communities we should do something that is likely to change their lives and the lives of their descendents. Investment in their education comes to mind.
