There is a common misconception that the job of the US Military is to "kill people and break stuff." That is not the case. The job of the US Military is to convince everybody that killing people (specifically US Citizens) and breaking stuff (specifically, owned by US Citizens) is a bad idea. Unfortunately, the only way to convince some people that this is a bad idea is to kill them and/or break their stuff.
Israel wants to convince everybody that killing Israeli Citizens and breaking stuff owned by Israeli Citizens is a bad idea. Unfortunately, there are too many people don't seem convinced by a polite request. Moreover, it would seem that the only way to convince these people is to kill them and to break their stuff. This seems to be the attitude in the Gaza.
I am not certain for how long the Gaza will exist as an independent political entity.

CSM Charles Hayden - You are quite correct. Unfortunately, Hamas won't let them. Yes, Hamas does not have the rightful authority to do that. Nonetheless, it's "do what I say or I will hurt you" rules in the Gaza. It is the policy of Hamas.
