Leadership has to be thinking and pan ning on their feet all of the time and have plans at hand for most situations. AF lazy minded leader has no place in the military!

Sgt Dan Carlin has hit the nail on the head, put him in charge of most of our unfit officers.

I'm glad someone finally took the time to write an article about this. I agree 100%! My biggest pet peeve was always leaders who couldn't understand why I wasn't moving at mach speed or was as motivated as they were...

"You need to start by admitting that not everyone is as good as you are." I'd like to expand on this one. I often felt this way, and one of the hardest things is sometimes reassessing this attitude. Sometimes it is true, and then my job as a leader would be to try and help them improve. But often the "problem" is simply that we all have different strengths. As a leader or manager, my job is to know my people, their strengths and weaknesses. Then to utilize their strengths and, where possible work on improving their weaknesses. This is the biggest failing of the micro-manager; "No one can do it as good as I can." BS! If they can't, you are in charge, ergo it's your fault. But often if you let them they will surprise you and do a better job at some tasks than you could have done. The trick is to work to their strengths to accomplish what must be done.
