I get their concerns about a partial-power vacuum of sorts, but as a general principle, the West should start taking its concerns directly to the source of problems by striking directly at senior and national leadership especially if that can provide an alternative to broader conflict. I imagine that's difficult, especially with regard to having everything lined up and coordinated and synchronized at the same time that you know where and when to do something, but in the even that an attempt fails, just try and try again until either success or the source of the problem appeals for peace and satisfies all demands for agreeing to the same. Anyhow, if I tripped, fell, and ended up President, that's what I'd lean toward more than not.

Let’s look at Iraq and Lybia as prime examples of countries after dictators fall with no clear replacement, oh yeah we can add Iran to that.
