I see it as a positive development over the short term, since it could make Republicans less likely to exploit prejudice against Muslims for political gain. Over the long term however, I find it worrisome because it will likely strengthen efforts to legislate conservative values which conservative Christians and conservative Muslims share, such as ending legal abortions and opposition to LGBT rights.

He is the Republican Candidate Designate at this point and the Republican Party has supported religions fundamentalist for some time so if you are a Fundamentalist Muslim I could see where there could be some appeal.
