Sgt Carney was also a member of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry during the Civil War. They were the unit that was featured in movie "Glory" that made the attack on the Confederate Fort Wagoner on which His action that day earned Him the Medal of Honor. The bravery and dedication to His unit and the United States of America is the type of thing that makes this country great ! My salute to Sergeant Carney !
