GySgt John Olson GMTA I've used the Applegate without knowing the name as well, (the meat and paper doesn't feel natural to me). Both my husband and I firmly believed in teaching our kids how to shoot/gun safety at a young age, all 3 are gun owners and damn good shots (proud Mom moment!) js

Very good teachings. I had learned CQC from a Former Gunny who was a Double Distinguished Shooter and was a Team Coach for us at the Far East Division Matches at Okinawa during the late 80's. He taught me how to shoot both .45 cal and the 9mm. I learned at that time about Applegate and the meat and paper Shooting. Sad to say we didn't place but I'll never forget what the Gunny taught this Marine Gunner. Great article. Thanks for sharing this. It brought back fond memories of my time in the Marine Corps.

GySgt John Olson - I believe we shot the same time. Yes, they definitely had some unbelievable wind conditions and rain. Got soaked a couple of times. The weather finally settled down. We didn't get to shoot the 9 mm because of some malfunction with the rear slide coming off. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Gunny Olson.
