Donahoe’s social media activity should have been a success story, and, indeed, was treated by the Army as such — until two other forces converged during his career: the rise of hyper-partisanship, in which toxic online behavior became endemic, and the U.S. military’s shift from respected institution to cultural war punching bag in the eyes of many conservatives.

This is insane...truly. He posted positive and inspirational information, congratulated his troops and yet they beat him up for making them too conspicuous to people on the left and the right. I am so glad I am not serving now.

Brown made the mistake of thinking the Generals and civilians above him would support his postings. He found out the hard way they didn't.

For the record I feel the investigation was bullshit from the beginning.
