Workers with a 'male brain' earn 10 per cent more

The study found that those with a 'male brain' earn significantly more than those with a 'female brain'. A stock image of business people are shown. Both men and women can have 'male brains' (Type-S brains), or 'female brains' ('Type-E' brains). It also found that "a woman with an analytical mind will earn 6.3 percent more than a female who focuses on thoughts and feelings, despite both doing the job." and a male with a analytical mind will earn 9.8% more than men with "type E brains".

I think this is "oversimplifying terms" when using Male & Female brain types.
Those with a Type-S brain (most common in males) earn more compared to those with a Type-E brain (most common in females).
If we stepped outside "brains" for a second, and said those with a Type-M body (most common in Males) were "more physically adept" than those with Type-F body (most common in Females), would this be surprising?
We know that Males & Females (as classes) are different from a Physiological Perspective. It is generally "accepted" that Males & Females (as classes) are different from a Mental Perspective. However there are INDIVIDUALS who cross the gender boundary, sharing traits more akin to the opposite gender.
That said a specific mental trait being correlated with earnings is not unusual, anymore than a specific physical trait being correlated with earnings (being taller for example).

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS I agree in part but the study wasn't based on if the individual respondent was male or female but rather on how the individual responded to questions.

CPT (Join to see) - I get that. (Physical) "Gender" is for the most part irrelevant. It's correlating "personality type" with wages. The use of Male & Female descriptors creates an unnecessary distraction to the findings.

I hate labels like this. I looked at the article and depending on the situation I could fall on either side. I wished we'd stop trying to classify these types of things and recognize the unique characteristics of the individual. I feel like this is just a way to say that one is better than the other. The 'male' brains may earn more, but I bet there's a better interpersonal environment in workplaces with more 'female' brains.

SGT Kristin Wiley Not at all, I don't think one is necessarily better than the other. The world would be a boring place if we were all the same. I think there is truth though to the finding that certain personalities or brain types earn more regardless of whether they are male or female. I fall into both sides as well. All five of the type S brain and the first two of the type E brain.

The success of each depends on the profession. A therapist would do well with a Type E brain.
