Very bogus video.
First, the US already has an overtime requirement for salaried workers which has been in place as long as I can recall. In 2004 the figure was updated to about $22-23k per year. Granted the increase to $50k is significant on a percentage basis, but the impact is likely to be minimal. First, $50k is $961 per week or $24 an hour while the previous level was $442/week and $11/hour. This income would exclude those in entry level jobs and impact those that are blue collar management.
The wage requirement is designed to prevent companies from hiring these blue collar workers at a salary and requiring them to work 60 hours a week - essentially pushing their pay down significantly and avoiding overtime pay. The firm will have to either hire additional workers or pay the additional pay to ensue work is being completed as opposed to paying poor wages. Given the cost of hiring, retraining, etc, firms will likely lean towards retaining the employee and paying the overtime.

I'll stick to my punching in on the clock job. Less headaches to worry about.
