The Unintended consequences of legalization of physician assisted suicide include significantly higher overall suicide rates. Studies in England and Oregon have shown that suicide rates have increased since the legalization of suicide - even when excluding the physician assisted deaths.
This article from World Magazine highlights the case of Laurie Hoirup who is now a 59 year old grandmother who was predicted to die before she was one and at numerous times since.
