A Military base was established at Morro Bay California during WWII to train troops for South Pacific campaigns as well as the D-Day invasion of Normandy. Archival U.S. Army Signal Corps photos record Higgins Boat landings, machine gun and mortar emplacements and much more.

Most of the training for Operation Overlord took place around the British isles
