That seems like very good news even with an in incredibly long delay from service to award COL Mikel J. Burroughs. It is good to learn that 92-year-old Thomas Williams was presented with the Bronze Star, Combat Infantryman Badge and other medals by Congressman Chris Gibson of New York.

COL Mikel J. Burroughs
LTC Stephen F. I agree - I'm a firm believer that the award system has been broken for some time and this is a good example - I know for a fact that my Dad is missing medals and awards from his combat in Korea. We had to work hard to just get his Purple Heart from wounds he suffered when he stepped on a "bouncing betty" landmine. His records were lost int he fire in St. Louis and we had to work hard to get information from the Hospital in Battle Creek, MI, but we did and he got his Purple Heart and United Nations Medal. He knows or remembers being put in for a Bronze Star with a V for valor, but never heard a word about afterwards. He spent too much time in the hospital and had to go back to work to support a family - time moved on!
