It never ceases to amaze how easily some are willing to either give up their rights or to try to take others rights away. If you don't wish to own a gun, fine, don't. Just don't expect me to follow your example. I will not be a sheep.

CDC statistics say there are nearly 500,000 cases of armed citizens protecting themselves and others each year.

Yea, it back fired on him proving the positive aspects of armed citizens. I always say anti-gun people reap the benefits of a country created by an armed citizenry.

I find it ironic that the right supports this one report by the CDC, but opposes any other research by them into gun violence.

Sound like the same thing the right says about the left and their “studies?” (See global warming)MSG Stan Hutchison

The left’s war against legal gun ownership is what made me leave the party in the first place. The identity politics of late is what keeps me away. The republicans are not doing much better with their opinions on marriage and abortion. To me those are personal things and should be kept personal. I guess I am more of a libertarian but against legalization of drugs (medical pot is ok with me).

I also tend to ascribe to the Libertarian way of thinking. In our current political system a libertarian candidate has little chance, running as a Libertarian, so most make the switch to Republican to at least get on a ballot.
