That song is a sore spot with me and my high school alumni. They were supposed to play at my high school's 1965 Fall Dance. We had a major California band play every year. Some went on to success, some didn't. But then that song charted between them signing the contract with us and the actual dance. Someone paid off their contract with my high school so the Righteous Brothers could go make big bucks elsewhere. We got stuck with Sonny and Cher instead. I think Cher wanted me. She was 19 and I was 16 -- so maybe not. I didn't like Sonny at all and his smart-ass attitude. The 1966 Fall Dance band, The Beau Brummels, never really got anywhere, but I liked them better than Sonny and Cher.

LTC Stephen C. - They definitely performed that number. They also did "Just a Little." but I can't remember any of the other tunes. I was taking Drama at the time. I couldn't act, dance or sing -- I was just a stage hand. But that meant I got to work with them setting things up and breaking things down before and after. It was cool. My Drama teacher was a hot young woman and think she got to know at least one of them real well. I remember he drove a green MG. The drummer went through a lot of drum sticks -- he kept breaking them. Sonny and Cher did perform "I Got You Babe," and I think Baby "Don't Go," but I can't remember any of their other music from that night.

Robert, I liked the BEAU BRUMMELS recordings and here are a couple more
they may have played at your high school dance in '65. From my vinyl 45 rpm
collection. Those were "GOOD VIBRATIONS" you felt coming your way from Cher
'cause she dumped Sonny later. The age difference was not that far off. Cher has
always liked younger guys. :o)
