Yes, sadly, entertainment is needed over accuracy. So liberties were taken with Private Hook's character. In all actuality, Hook had a fairly well-behaved British Army life with no misdemeanors, bad behavior, etc. As an interesting aside, there were actually 12 Victoria Crosses awarded. Color Sergeant Bourne was awarded one and traded his for a commission.

Now of course, the "dispatch" had already gone out saying that he'd been awarded it, so although he passed on it in return for commission, he was accorded the honours bestowed on someone who was given it.

I follow, I'd looked up the historical inaccuracies, as I'd said, I'd also seen Shaka Zulu and Zulu Dawn as well, many thanks...

I have this movie, as well as, several other Zulu movies. Shaka Zulu by far is my favorite. Nice post Capt Daniel Goodman
