I'm sorry but I have to comment. First, Semper Fi and congrats, BUT, I said the same thing after 3 women earned the Ranger tab, WTF do they do now? Logistically, what is going to happen in the field? Separate quarters and head? Hell no, will be sleeping with squad and doing the kimche squat over a hole. Women aren't assigned to Ranger Battalion or infantry, so why do they need the tab? If they are shot along with 2 other guys, but her wound isn't the worst, will she be treated first because she's a woman? That's partly human nature. We hold them in higher regard. Then there's sanitary reasons (increased chance of infection due to anatomy and physiology). Not saying they aren't bad ass enough, just saying God forbid one ever got captured, what do you think they will do on Al Jezira (?spelling) network? I don't imagine it would be pretty. But hey, who am I. I don't make policy. Good luck with that. If it were my daughter (and she's as bad ass as they come), I would still say "hell no".

Previous comments comparing Army and Marines, “who’s better” will certainly have an effect on both.
In either case men and women have their place. No women in infantry combat is my choice.

Even savage tribes leave women out of the fight. Nothing against them though. Sgt J Sanborn

Now I'm all for female Marines being able to earn the infantry MOS if they want, I know if be pissed if I passed all the tests I needed to become a grunt and was told I was born the wrong gender and couldn't. And I've met a lot of female Marines that could out perform some of the male Marines I met in the infantry too. It's not a matter of them being able to do the job. In my mind the only thing I think might be an issue is this: it's one thing to see one of your fellow Marines pinned down by machine gun fire or even worse, to see one of them make the ultimate sacrifice but I ask you this, would you react differently if it was a female you got to know over the deployment pinned down or KIA? My answer is fuck ya I would act differently! If an insurgent shoots one of my Marines on a patrol of course I'm going to have some scores to settle if I get my hands on him, but if he shoots one of my female Marines I believe that it's almost genetically programed into some men to protect the female at all costs. I wouldn't just kill the insurgent who shot her, I'd kill him and his entire blood line if I could. The point I'm trying to make is that as long as we learn to react in combat the same way with a woman as we do with a man then I'm all for it. I just don't think we have the training for it yet.

I see many good men and women dying over this decision. I just don't believe enough women are going to meet the standards to make it a realistic endeavor, either in lives or logistically.

It's not so much about the Standards, as we know they will have to be real bad asses to stand up and say "I am a Marine Rifleman," but more on the lines of taking this absolutely serious. This is a new shiny bobble that everyone is playing with, and there will be a lot of female military that just have something to prove, even if it is to themselves only. But, I think after the shine starts to fade, and it gets old having to be that Infantryman everyday, you will see fewer and fewer wanting to do it. Don't get me wrong, I have known, and know of a lot of female military members, that are just that bad ass. But like I said, let the shine dull a little, and see what happens.

I guess you don't know your military history. The Russians, trained, outfitted and sent WOMEN, into the snow, as snipers to defeat the German's "on the front."

Many men don’t meet the standards. How many men failed/dropped out of this program? How many men did these women beat in the program using the same standards?

Medical fact:
Both genders are designed with comparatively equal, but different advantaged.
The typical female is more less dense & can float better.
Much of design / strength configuration for the female is advantaged in lower body vs male which is upper body.
To fully exploit natural assets, is to develop a training scenario addressing all body type variables & their inherent features.
