Hello, I am wondering if ARNG 11A's get ranger school slots right after IBOLC? And once they pass ranger school, do 11A's get opportunities for Airborne and Air Assault?

I noticed for the enlisted side, there is a program called the Ranger Team Leader Initiative (RTLI) that is provided by the ARNG Warrior Training Center which allows enlisted ARNG 11B's straight out of OSUT to get into Ranger and then Airborne. I am having a hard time finding on the internet the path to ranger school for ARNG infantry officers.

If there is anyone who is an infantry officer in the guard that's gotten ranger school and airborne, your wisdom would be greatly appreciated!

And for some extra context, I am trying to go into the Texas ARNG.

If you want to go and your unit let’s you you can go to RTAC and have a slot. I’m not NG, but I had a few kids in my IBOLC PLT that were NG and wanted ranger get hard slots to ranger

Be prepared to be disappointed. NG infantry officers do not go to Ranger by default, and you will have to fight hard to make it happen.

Thank you for the transparency sir. What do I need to do exactly in order to get a ranger slot once I'm in a guard unit?

You’ll have to talk to:
-Company commander
-Company training NCO
-Battalion Training NCO
-Battalion S-1 NCO
-Battalion S-3
-Battalion S-3 NCO/Ops SGM
-Battalion XO
-Battalion commander

Frequently. Don’t waste your breath talking to squad leaders or platoon sergeant (maybe just mention once to your PSG that you’re trying, but then don’t mention it again). Hit up the people on that list in person, text, and email. They will let you know who has the pull to make it happen and who doesn’t. In some battalions, the training NCO might be able to sign you up. In most, he won’t unless the BN XO (or someone else on that list) calls someone at brigade, who knows how to get you signed up for Pre-Ranger (required before NG go to Ranger). Once the person (BC, XO, Ops SGM, whoever in your unit has the connection) gives the go-ahead, the training NCO will do put you in. But you won’t know who knows whom and who can get you approved until you hit up everyone. Also, they don’t care about you, so you will have to follow up to get it done. Good luck

Thank you sir. So once I contact everyone on that list to see who can sign me up, am I competing with every other 11A officer in the unit in order to get a slot based on how I perform in the guard (OER, PT score, etc)? Or do they just sign me up without factoring those things?

All those things factor in. It costs the Guard money to send you, and so every failure they have means they wasted the money and that next year, that money may be cut from the training budget. They should believe that you will succeed , that you’ll improve the unit as a whole, and that the $60k+ they spend will be a good investment. Cadet SGT (Join to see)

ARNG goes to Ranger School every month, but there is no "path," just a lot of effort to get the school lined up with BOLC and the physical scheduled during BOLC, or set up after you get back to your state.
Airborne in the Guard is an entirely different matter.
You'll need to be assigned to an Airborne unit in TX ARNG to make that happen.
