When did you find out your infantry mos when you got to basic and was it a random pick?

Shipping out on august 19th and starting basic the 30th and was wondering when i would find out my infantry mos and if it's a random selection. Don't really care if im 11c or 11b just curious about other infantry recruits experience in basic. I've heard some say its complete random like the drill sergeants will just pick and I've also heard asvab scores have something to do with it.

I signed an 18X contract at 20 with no athletic background and around 132lbs wet...so I knew I was going 11B even after failing A&S. Assuming nothing has changed with 30th AG and you have a 11X contract...it all depends on what's needed when you get picked up and start basic. They'll tell you soon enough.
Get good at pushups. The Army is on easy mode when you can bump out 75 pushups with no problems.

I enlisted for 11B. I wanted 84B but the school was closed they were moving. After 3 years I reuped for 84B and retired as a 25V3H. Best job ever.

In 1972 I enlisted for Airborne Infantry, in November that same year I extended for one year to go to Vietnam, but got the DMZ Korea instead.
