PCSing to Fort Hood (11C) 4-9 2BDE. What am I in for as a mortar?

I was wondering what the reputation of the unit I'm going to is. I realize, it's what you make of it, but I'm slightly nervous as this is my first pcs. I was offered the opportunity to get my 6, but turned it down as I am not imlc qualified, nor have I been to a deplorable unit that trains at an acceptable tempo. That wouldn't be fair to my subordinants or myself. So any advice would be great!

SGT (Join to see) ... Focus on the Move...get your hands dirty..... Work your Mortar team hard, fair, and then harder. Worry not for what you can not control, the other teams, the company, the BN, BDE, DIV, post.
Know your job, know the job of the man above you, know your men, train them as if their lives depend on it, because it does.
The Duty day may be over at 17:30 your responsibility ends after your dead.....plus 45 days...lol
Oh and knock off that " I don't deserve to get promoted" If your leaders think your ready, don't second guess them. They see the potential ... Deployed or not, did you do your duty with professionalism and competency? Good, then go get boarded... Your leadership knows they can teach the mechanics of running a mortar team..they cant teach leadership..that has to come from you..and if a senior leader observed it in you or the potential for increased responsibility, that means they think you can pick up the technical capabilities of a weapon systems, what they need and want is the person to lead the team.

I literally just left 4-9 and I was there 5 years. They are only doing Korea rotations now and you go to the field like twice a year. Good luck in getting imlc cause we had only 1 person qualified in the entire squadron. And don't get my started on the mfcb2. We have been trying to get new ones since I was there and never get it. Mortars are extremely low priority there. All they care about is their scouts and leadership doesn't know how to employ mortars effectively.

Don't worry man the mortars are like a family there so it shouldn't be bad at the low levels. You will get assigned to a trp you won't be in hht then pushed down. You all have your own offices and equipment. But watch out. BII goes missing alot. So watch who your gonna have the stuff signed to
