Thank you MAJ for this news, when one horse cost less and can do the same job as an expensive one, go for the lesser one.

Especially if you take the Innovations from the F-35 such as the helmet cameras and other equipment and put those in the F18 it is a better overall platform. Sure, you can see the other guys bad playing but I think when you do see him you'll be able to assert him and shoot him down! There was a master sergeant here in the Air Force was contesting the 15 the one kill ratio from the F-35 to the other planes and he works on them so there is a lot of misinformation lately. Yesterday it wasn't this information about the NOAA doctoring records to favor the global warming scam. I wonder if you haven't Dr Data that would skew the F-35 is being a hands-down winner in a dogfight or in a combat situation.

I am not a big fan of the F-35 and I agree that cheaper is the way to go. A great example is what Marines did with the AH-1 Cobra verse the super expensive Apache. Much cheaper aircraft with nearly the same capabilities. The F/A-18 is a great platform and may be nearly as good as the F-35. Trump's heart is in the right place, but the rules may not allow him to achieve his goals.

The truth is that the military acquisition system is designed to prevent politicians from exerting too much influence over military purchases. Trump will not have as much influence on the F-35 purchases as he may think he does.

But the whole reason the F-35 has been costing so much has been because of political influence; Senators and congressmen, wanting their state's share in producing parts.

The super hornet production lines were close to ending because they are filling the last orders for the plane. It is a good idea to keep production flowing on such an outstanding platform as the F/A-18!
