I'd wait... relax and spend some time to adjust to the Army.... I did USMC, USAF and Army.

There was just a guy about a week ago on here posting about a shortage of 11C's Mortarmen. It of course depends on your projected school date. If your in the Spring to Fall Session there is always a massive backup due to split option and those folks that can only get training during the Summer. It's the peak training season Spring to Fall. It's been running like this for decades. Long time ago when I served I had the Aug to Dec cycle and they shutdown some of the training companies because it was not the peak time and demand was lower. Generally though at Fort Benning they have an Infantry class graduating at least every two weeks because the MOS is so large in the Army. However that does not mean they have all the training companies running. I believe they have 3-4 pods on Sand Hill at Fort Benning and each pod has training companies A-F. Sometimes they have a full training company be National Guard only. Sometimes they mix National Guard and Regular Army. Sometimes they have just a regular basic training company that is non-Infantry. Its all based on needs of the Army and retention rate and what is happening with Army End Strength (increasing, decreasing or stagnant).

As a NCO they will seperate you from the initial training recruits as much as they can. It can be as little as seperation of your bunk from the initial training recruits or in a seperate bay or room. They sometimes also release you at 5 (restricted to post) whereas the initial training recruits are restricted to barracks. It is all up to the specific training company how they treat you and what perks you get. It is pretty rare they treat you just like the initial entry recruits unless you screw up somehow.

Don't worry, it's Benning. A choice will be made for you but you should lobby to get the Damn out of reception ASAP.
