Depending on your first assignment, you’ll be trained on one of three howitzers: M119A3 (105mm towed), M777A2 (155mm towed), or M109A6 (155mm self propelled). You’ll spent a lot of time in the motorpool learning to properly PMCS your howitzer, theory of operation, breech disassembly, reassembly, and functions checks. Additionally, you’ll be trained as a #1 man (in layman’s terms, a loader). Your section will learn to occupy your howitzer in accordance with the appropriate technical manual. Tasks during occupation include setting up primary and alternate aiming references (collimator and aiming posts) and erecting a camouflage net for rowed pieces. Your culminating training event will have you conducting a LFX where you will fire a number of live rounds.
As a side note, I love being an artilleryman. I hope that you’re the kind of motivated go-getter that the fires community needs in our ranks.

I would imagine that it’s much like the AIT for 25Bs. More physically demanding with more focus on standards and discipline since 13Bs are a combat MOS, but similar nonetheless.

When I went, we were banned from leaving post, we still had to get buzzcuts, long marches to chow, no alcohol. We had way too many people on M119 so it was hard for us to get hands on experience, as it was like 27 people on the howitzer, compared to like 8 for the M777 and Paladin(M109).
I had a great time otherwise, and the above may not apply to your class, especially if you are reclassing, you will likely have special privileges. Check out the Field Artillery museum while you are there, and take a trip to the Lake for a nice cool swim on a hot day.
As you are reclassing, help the Cadre to some extent keep the soldiers in line, mass punishment was big in my class.

SGT(P) (Join to see) Amen. I had Airborne in my contract so was on the M119. In actuality we had a lot more soldiers on the 777 and Paladin than on the M119, which was awesome. Not ti mention our "Chief" had just gotten to Sill from Bragg so he was awesome.

As I know, the training typically includes classroom instruction, hands-on practical exercises, and field training exercises (FTX) to provide a comprehensive learning experience. Soldiers will learn about the different components of artillery systems, ammunition handling, cannon operations, fire direction procedures, and how to work effectively as part of a cannon crew.
