DT’s. Delta Tangos. Direction to Target. When we set up at night, the rounds always went to where they were supposed to go. Close at times, but good to know they were there for us.

There are only two MOS skills. 11-series and POG-series. Just sayin'

SGT (Join to see) - my uncle was a retired light colonel redleg who swore me in at my commissioning.

I’ve known two types of Infantrymen in my career. Those with your attitude Sir and the Queens saved by the King. The latter are a better bunch.

CSM Christopher St. Cyr - Perhaps you misunderstand my position. My uncle said he was a POG, and was proud of what he did, as was I. That's why I asked him to swear me in. All POG means is that the individual is not infantry, it has nothing to do with their value to the Army.
For example, in Gulf I, the regulars did everything they could to keep Guard combat units from deploying, including lying about the units readiness. That worked for infantry and tank units, but they had a shortage of MLRS brigades in theatre, so FA brigades from Tennessee and Arkansas were shipped over with minimal post-mob training. And those brigades of weekend warriors out-performed the regulars, and rained steel on the enemy at a rate and with accuracy that had never been seen before.
What they did was vitally important to the mission--and they are still POGs because they do not close with, and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver. That's all there is to it.

The one I saw was in Turkey. It had a Napoleon era dressed cannoneer lighting a fuse to a cannon with a bunch of infantry, airborne, rangers, and SF brawling on the ground. The caption read, "Artillery lends dignity to what would otherwise be a bloody brawl."
