I am going through the process of making a WOCs packet. I have been enlisted for a year and am looking for any advice for filling out the packet and getting a LOR from a Senior CW. Any help is greatly appreciated. ?

If you are already in an aviation unit, you may already have warrant officers there. I say that to say that you should approach them and ask who is the CCWO there to get their input and they will provide you with a person to do your LoR if they don’t do it themselves. They may require you to shadow another WO and make sure this is what you want to do. I hope this helps but if you are looking for a specific POC, let me know what MOS and I can ask through the WO Facebook page for a contact near you.

First and foremost good luck with your packet and hope all goes well for you. I am also putting in an Aviation Warrant packet. I would like to ask have you already taken your SIFT test? I would hate for you to get to far ahead of yourself if that has not been accomplished yet? Given what your current MOS is. I’d say there should be some warrants around your work area. Don’t be shy or afraid to go up and speak with them (respectfully) of course IOT break the ice. The. Simply mention what you are trying to accomplish. Everyone loves career progression and any good or decent NCO or Officer will always try to guide you in the right direction. You can also reach out to the local warrant recruiters In your area as well for aid.

Would like to ask though - what made you want to change from your current MOS with only a year in? You have not even experienced very much IMO.

Has all the information you need to help fill out your packet. Forms, examples, templates, board dates, etc.

Most of the packet is paperwork that you fill out which is all on you. If you are just starting on the process, focus on taking the SIFT and flight physical first as there is no point in continuing further if you are medically disqualified or don't pass the SIFT. LOR's should come after those two things are completed and you've got a majority of the packet complete as the individuals you will seek out for LOR's generally want to see a working packet to know you're serious about becoming a Warrant.

You're a 15R or 15Y, yes? So you work in a hangar with other Warrants. Go bug them. Most are very approachable when it comes to asking questions about the process and if you ask they may even provide their own packets as a template to help guide you in putting yours together.
