How could I connect with a aviation warrant officer?

I am looking to go to the warrant officer's side of the army. I would like to go into aviation (MOS 153A). I am in the reserves and to put my packet together I need a letter of recommendation. The issue is I do not know any aviation warrants. Also, I fear it would be hard to interact with warrants because I am just a specialist. How could I go about meeting and setting myself right to get a meaningful letter of recommendation? I also would like to know how to be successful for the board to get into WOCS.

If you are in the Reserves, then you should be going through the Warrant Officer Accession program. The Accession NCO's job is to help you with your packet and most likely has connections in the WO community. You local retention office can help you find that NCO.

One piece of advice: drop the whole "I'm just a Specialist" attitude. WO's are not just technical experts they are also considered to be leaders, and WOC school is primary a leadership development program. You need to start thinking like a future leader and develop the confidence needed in that area. I can't think of any WO's that are not willing to meet with promising new members of that secret organization that they belong to.

I agree that he needs to lose the “I’m just a specialist attitude”. I was a CPL when I decided to pursue my commission. Part of that required me to interview with a COL from the post hospital. If you want the rank, act like it.

If where you are located has a CAB then head over to the airfield and just walk in and request an interview. This happens all the time. Don’t be afraid Warrants are just normal people. Find me on the global if you have any other questions.
