Where do Army fixed-wing pilots usually get stationed?

I have a WOCS class date of 10 July, 2019 (MOS 153), and I'm curious to know what the fixed-wing lifestyle and mission is like vs rotary-wing. I know that rotary-wing guys have a HUGE range of both missions and duty stations. Is the same true for fixed-wing?

Generally speaking, most aviation units will have one or two fixed wing aircraft so that means you can go almost anywhere the army flies. That said, the most likely place for you will be with an Intel unit flying a sensor platform. In my day it would have been the OV-1D Mowhawk. Awsome bird!

Wow that's awesome. I had no clue that there were even that many fixed-wing aircraft in the Army.

When I was with the Air Cav my troop had 18 UH1's 4 OH58's and 1 U-21. That bad news was the our CO flew the U-21 (RHIP).

Not true anymore. In fact, most aviation units actually do NOT have FW aircraft. Only overseas CABs have organic FW. Still true that most FW assignments are in Intel units, leaving only a handful or realistic choices with some other small options possible later down the line.
