Losing the Human Connection as civilians is relevant in the world of mass electronic mailing.  10 yrs ago email was only limited use for 1SG's and above.  As a military would it be fair to say that it would be either more or less difficult to communicate with or without email?  Have we become so consumed and dependent on technology we speak and voice our words through technology instead of one another losing the emotional response or interaction most deem necessary to drive a force forward through COMBAT???  Are we addressing further disconnect with customs and courtesies by not interacting with one another on social levels at different ranks?

For my department I have enforced an no email Friday policy. &nbsp; We still get emails from around the hospital but for one day they have to contact people either by phone or face to face. &nbsp; It's a good break and improves networking.<div>I highly recommend it.</div>

Rally Point is mandatory.  Every morning formation:  Let me see your ID Card, ID Tags, Ace Card, and what was your Rally Point Post this morning?

I am also thinking about implementing their Rally Point influence score into their monthly counselings.  It will be a determining factor in the OML list for whatever.

Not sure if making RallyPoint's influence scores a thing in counselings/OML. Thats almost illegal in my book considering rallypoint is a nonprof unofficial organization.

I know right.  Could you imagine if someone was seriously doing that?  Even worse, could you imagine if someone thought that comment was for real?  Crazy!

TRADOC would collapse under the weight of all the new paperwork that could no longer be sent digitally. Countless POI's, memo's, Lesson Plans, reports, SOP's, CAD's, briefings, etc... We would deplete the worlds rainforests in 24 hours..

Not sure where you come up with the 1SG and above email statement; I've had email since 1995.

Part of life is adapting...email is apart of life.

In your post, you say, "interaction most deem necessary to drive a force forward through COMBAT???"  Hasn't technology and upgrades in basic human-to-human interaction advanced us on the battlefield?

MSG(P) I ame in 2000 and AKO hadn't been even adopted yet till early to mid 2001.  The issue with that statement is that i personally feel technology will be the interface of combat instead of one another.  Would you get onto an unmanned helicopter or prefer a living breathing pilot.  You would certainly appreciate a surgeon who has blood coursing through his veins.  this discussion simply concurs that as technology improves the level of humanity interacted with one another diminishes.

Couldn't the same thing be said of the telephone? Prior to the telephone, people had to actually get up and go talk to people face to face. After the telephone, although voice communications was still there, face to face communications decreased significantly, and certainly somebody was there to argue that it decreased human interaction. Would the Army be better off if it never adopted the telephone?<div><br></div><div>In terms of "...technology will be the interface of combat instead of one another..." does that mean we should stop using radios? That would certainly force people to talk face to face more on the battlefield, but does that make us a better Army?</div><div><br></div><div>Email, just like the telephone and the radio, are just tools of technological advancement. The technology itself is rarely a negative, though sometimes leaders may misuse the tools they possess.&nbsp;</div>
