I have a suggestion, leave well enough alone! You can't erase history no matter how hard you try.

Write ng this from
Thayer Hotel at USMA. They were traitors. As was just said to me: would we put up statues for those who switched to fight for ISIS?

Cannot agree more! There is no “redo” or “replay” button for history. It is what it is and it ain’t changin’ no matter how hard we try.

It's humorous to me about how the big Army (and the left side) always tries to change the names of something we've always had & used....
Like the now politically correct term of "DFAC or dining facility".
And yet - we still, and probably will always call it the "Chow Hall"!!!
To me, Ft Bragg has a special place in my heart, soul & memory - and it will always be Bragg, no matter how many different politically-correct left side terms they decide to rename it!

Fort Hood will always be Hood for those of us that grew up in the near shadows, but that doesn't make anything right! Why it was named for a failure does matter. See some of us in Tx learned Spanish and know the new name by reputation.
Oh and this isn't a political left thing. It's about righting a wrong, end of story!

SSgt Carroll Straus - Its not glorification. Its amendments to move on and get the country rebuilt and back together as soon as possible. North did not get the big victory it talks of. South was more than happy/able/willing to engage in guerilla warfare. War needed to end NOW by whatever means.
Then -
Remember that Lincoln is the first Republican. He was the third party candidate. Now he's dead and there's a lot of politicians wanting to go back to the way it was before the election. Trust me - they are worried about more important things than a statue. Executions for treason would likewise, be an idea that got quashed. What was done was not the best but sadly, it was done with the best tools available at the time. Always difficult to look at 1860's events with 2023 eyes.

I always call it the mess hall. In Virginia folks are not allowed to place confederate flags for more that a year. so they replace the flag every year.

LTC Broom Agree with naming after medal of honor recipients only. But I took Basic at Fort Jackson, and AIT at Fort Polk (Tiger Land). sorry but just did not like Fort Polk. But if names must be changed to appease a socialist communist system I say no. Naming a Fort after a Medal honor recipient not only honors the recipient but the Army as well.
