If you are an out of state LEO or a Military Police Specialty and think you might want to be a LEO in Florida, read on!
The Equivalency of Training (EOT) process is for Out-of-State Federal Officers (Including Military Law Enforcement) and previously certified Florida officers with a four year or more break-in-service pursuant to section 943.131(2), Florida Statutes and Florida Administrative Code (F.A.C.) 11B-35.009(4)(5).
The EOT allows an officer to be exempt from having to complete the full basic recruit academy.
You may be eligible for an exemption from the full basic training requirements if you were an officer in another state or with the federal government and meet the following requirements:
You worked at least one year, full-time as a sworn officer in the discipline you are seeking exemption;
You received training in that discipline which is comparable to Florida's full basic recruit curriculum and/or;
You were previously certified in Florida.
There can be no more than an 8 year break in employment as an officer. The break in employment is measured from the separation date of the most recent qualifying employment to the time a complete application requesting an exemption from training is submitted to a Criminal Justice Selection Center or criminal justice employing agency.
Once you are approved for an equivalency of training, you will need to demonstrate proficiency in the high liability areas and pass the state certification exam in the same discipline within 1 year of receipt of the approved Equivalency of Training CJSTC Form 76.
If you do not complete the training and pass the State Officer Certification Examination within the 1 year time limit, you may apply for another exemption from training, but you must be eligible pursuant to Chapter 943.131(2), F.S. at the time of application.

Considered doing that many times in my early days in law enforcement. But, I was too Midwestern!!! Had a standing job offer with Orange County Sheriff's Office. It sure sounded sweet at the time.

Orange County is recruiting very heavily currently. They are down double digit positions.

Sheriff Mel Coleman hired 900 deputies in the years he was in charge. His successor hired 500. They both knew the need for a massive presence in that hugely popular tourist destination.

SCPO (Join to see) - Still not addressing the issue. What, if any, Military Police Training assisted you getting appointed a Police Officer? Police Certification is a State Function. It requires training to State Standards. If it accrued some credit toward State Certification, it would be of value. Being a veteran is worth a lot but not specifically MP training. I did hire a dog handler based on that training

Police certification depends on the state. I have taught in city, county, state, and regional academies, all nationally accredited. I know of many agencies across the same spectrum that value the MP or CID or OSI or NCIS or CGIS training. The Feds value it the most. Nothing I was trained in or for in the Navy did me any good when I sought civilian law enforcement employment.

This does nothing for MPs, it is for recruiting Officers from outside Florida. When I relocated to California I had to submit my certification transcripts to California POST (Police Officer Standards and Training. They sent me a letter telling me what courses I had to complete within a year. I recall in the 1970s the Ontario Provincial Police was waivering Canadian Citizenship to get experienced Officers. I don't know of anywhere that MP training counts for anything more than any other MOS

SSG Edward Tilton - We go by the new training standards they have in the Mil records system. Plus it is not for everyone. Just those that have a year in the duty position full-time, and have training records to prove it. This is not for hiring, this is for being able to be exempted from the basic law enforcement academy training, and being able to take the state exam. They still have to pass the testing and such. That is all. But save them about 6 months worth of training.
