It depends if you are ready for men to want to be you and for women to want you. If you are then 31B is a fit for you. Just kidding, but honestly I do not believe you qualify for 31D yet. If I remember correctly you have to be a minimum of an E5. An option is you can re-enlist 31B and request to be looked at for Military Police Investogator (MPI) at your unit. I worked MPI for about 4 years. They handle most of the smaller cases and most juvenile cases. Victor 5 school school is top notch. Most of the syllabus comes strait out of the FBI Academy. You work with a lot of CDI guys and if you have your stuff together they will help you out if you want to reclassify to 31D.

Now the bad news. MPI is a sought after position and you will be competing against the best of your fellow soldiers for a position. When I boarded for MPI there was one position and there was 14 of us trying for it. Most of the people were E6s with more time in service than me. Your case work as a road MP has got to be perfect. I mean the “t”s have to be crossed and the paperwork has to be done right and timely. You have to show a high level of maturity as you have a ton of leadway in your daily activities and you work in plain clothes most of the time.

Keep in mind I got out in 2007 and things may have changed in how they do them, but 31B reclass should be easy to work in investigations will require a lot of work and dedication on your part.

Depends. I’m assuming you are overall unhappy with your current MOS, which is why you want to re-class. If that’s the case I would reclass first and then maybe try to go recruiting. Your options for reclass will start to become more narrow as you progress in rank. I’d do it sooner rather than later if you’re going to reclass.

CID is an application process and isn’t something you can just re-enlist for. If you’re interested in joining CID, I’d recommend you visit the CID website and y’all with your local CID office recruiting coordinator. I’d much rather be a CID Agent than MP or recruiter.
