I see it all the time since I’m on gate guard and my issue is SM and contractors would have been driving off post with it visible leading to bad opsec

If memory serves, the SCIF badge is to only be worn while in the SCIF. Otherwise, it is to be concealed. Check the regs and double check with the Security Manager of the SCIF. But, my instincts tell me that these folks are in the extreme wrong and violating protocol.

SPC (Join to see) - I can see someone leaving base who forgot they had not taken it off - but coming on base? That's ridiculous. And their SIPR token in the cupholder...why? I always have that in my ACU pocket because I don't need it anywhere but work.

It's mindboggling how ignorant people are on security incidents/violations.

SFC (Join to see) the worse part is it’s contractors not the SM’s so they have worked in intel for at least a couple years but still don’t want to follow protocol sergeant

I was trained to keep mine concealed, not sure if a regulation covers it.

SPC (Join to see) you may be best served by raising the issue with a security officer responsible for the SCIF, rather than trying to enforce something that, despite being a good on-the-spot-correction, will not have the desired impact.
I never understood why folks with ID badges feel it's necessary to wear them like the badges are some sort of award.

It's not a regulation, it's policy depending on the organization.

In my day, the security badges would be issued and collected by who ever controlled access to the SCIF, at the scif entrance. The person(s) desiring entry present ID are cross-referenced with an access roster. Each morning, or whenever there was a change, someone from the S-1 AND someone from the S-2 would verify the roster, pull any badges that were temporarily or permanently denied access and place any new badges.

I remember that now, I picked up my badge from the MP at the gate and turned it in when I left.

Maj John Bell - times have changed. Now there are systems in place when it comes to SCIF badges so they don't have to cross reference on a SCAR each morning. However - the SCIF badge should be a controlled item and if someone loses some, they are supposed to report it to SSO immediately (or security manager or SSR whoever they see first).

No one should have a temporary SCIF badge anyway - that's why it's allowed for as SCIF badge holder to escort up to 2 non-badge holders (once the area is sanitized).

Also no SSO should be just reading on any random person - they should have a need for SCI access. However it's not that hard to pull someone's SCI access either.
