If anyone out there knows PVT Erika Lopez you might want to advise her to turn herself in to the authorities.

CSM (Join to see) It's not a good PR moment for the Army. Seriously the public is being misguided on the roles of women in the Army and their participation in combat. The Army has long had positions that placed women in combat. Ashley's War? Female MPs on LPOP, search and seizure ops, mounted patrols, convoy security, ready reaction force. What about those in Civil Affairs making direct contact with indigenous populations?

Maybe, but I'd say that many of them, and some make soldiers who think they were, were not. Taking some rounds on a convoy isn't combat.

CSM (Join to see) - So you would say, Leigh Ann Hester was not in combat? She received the Silver Star for her actions on 20 March 2005 during an enemy ambush on a supply convoy near the town of Salman Pak, Iraq.

I'd also disagree with her Silver Star

She's not first in. She's just the first from Tennessee. LOL. This is ridiculous publicity. I was on the trail this summer at Fort Leonard Wood and there were a handful of female combat engineers going through basic.

Appreciate the clarification. Just goes to show ya how twisted the news is.

Maybe she was first to enlist but obviously she didn't make it. She got hurt and went on con leave and never came back. Shame.
