Is the Hometown News Release Program (HTNR) still in existence?

I noticed it while reading "Company Command the Bottom Line". Book was written in 1990, so I figured this program may be dated. I recall filling out a 2266 when I graduated basic in 2012. It's technically a command required program (if it does still exist). With social media and technology, I wasn't sure if this program has been done away with in favor of the modern media outlets.

It exists, but no one really uses it anymore outside of Division level and higher PAO offices...

Haven't heard of the program since 1984- had to fill out a card during BMT. Nothing since.

It is still in existence, but it is primarily self-help. You can contact your unit PAO, or visit: https://jhns.release.dma.mil/public
