I go to meps in less than a week now, and I intend to enlist 37F. Is there anything I should be made aware of that I might not already know? Is the training realistically about a year long?

Are you going active duty through the OSUT program or are you a reservist coming through AIT? Either way, our course is very demanding, both intellectually and physically. SSG Aldana is correct in that you will be provided with everything you need to succeed, but your success will depend on you. In the mean time, I recommend reading up on the history of PSYOP, as well as the PSYOP process. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I have a couple of questions for someone with 37F as their MOS. My husband is currently in military police training to become a PsyOp. I have questions about it as a married couple. First of all will he get weekends off when he goes to his 43 week training if he is selected? What is life like being married and being a Psyop? Do they deployed as much as possible? How long are deployments? Where do they usually get stationed? Will I most likely be able to live with him during those 43 weeks of training?

Thanks!

I enlisted as a 37F in November ‘17. You will go through MP OSUT for 19 weeks at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Depending on what MP company you land in decides how great that will be, but make sure you are a good runner. Aim for a 300 PT score and your life will be easier, especially once you hit airborne. MP OSUT will drive you crazy since you didn’t enlist as that, but it’s good training at times nevertheless. Plus, if you pass airborne and fail psyop selection, you’ll end up an airborne MP which isn’t bad at all. But if you fail airborne, you’ll end up in the 91 series, as I saw with my friends who failed. I’m at airborne currently, so I can’t give you any advice past this, but yes, the training is 47 weeks. 25 of them are for language school though, and you will have your phone and car and spouse for all of the post-airborne training.

I have some questions for you if you don’t mind? My husband is currently in OSUT for MP training at Fort Leonard Wood. His MOS is 37F and has airborn school. I’m not sure if you are married but do you know if they have weekends off during the 43 week training after airborn? What is married life like during that time? Will I most likely be able to live with him?

After Airborne, they should go through a program called POPC (Psychological Operations Prep Course). He should have weekends off during those weeks and you should be able to move up there, however it is advised to wait and see if he gets selected or not. If so, absolutely you should move up there. Married life is definitely doable after selection. It’ll be alot of 9-4 days during the Q course, with weekends usually free. I’d recommend getting an affordable apartment and house hunting from there. On post housing is atrocious at Bragg.

Not If he is enlisting as a 37F. Only active duty work for USASOC. He is going to work for USACAPOC. He COULD go ABN, but it's not guaranteed. Either way it should be a rewarding career. And the short answer is no. Everything you need, you will receive, everything you need to know they will teach. Take notes, ask questions, be involved, be a good teammate. You will be fine
