What is the lifestyle/operational tempo like for active duty CA officers? Both team leaders, staff, etc, I understand it can vary widely?

1LT Hendricks - depends on which TSOC you are supporting and if the Theater already has assets internal to their force structure (ie EUCOM and PACOM have USAR units and so most taskings are only in direct support of TSOC missions or exercises). AFRICOM and CENTCOM and SOUTHCOM are different worlds unto themselves if you are in a CO/BN supporting their TSOCs.

In the USAR they deploy every other year it seems. I am sure more for active duty.

SOF side is tactical focus in support of SO, so demand varies per region and TSOC. USAR CA supports all services (and the Embassies too) - and goes from tactical to strategic. The most critical factor though is not the demand - which is heavy - but the mobilization authorities and how that factors into which GCC has their demand met. Such is Global Force Management .
