If I reclass into civil affairs, do I go to the same course as AD? Will the unit I transfer to require an interview or selection process?

If I were to reclass into civil affairs do I go to the same course as active duty or are there reserve training courses to reclass? Also, I'm told the unit I'll transfer to doesn't require an interview or selection process, is that pretty typical of reserve CA units?

I was CA for 8 years and now I am a 79V. CA reserves requires a 107 GT and is conducted in two two week phases at Fort McCoy. There is no interview process any more. As long as you qualify you simply file a transfer request through your UA or S1 to a local CA unit. You can call me if you have more questions. [login to see] .

SFC (Join to see) thank you. I just signed my contract today. Soon as I get done with my demon process I'll have my command transfer me early to my CA unit.

Unfortunately, AD pipeline is different than Reserve component. AD requires a selection process similar to SFAS before attending its respective Q Course. PSYOP is the same way.

A unit that does not require an interview or selection process? SSG (Join to see) Does that sound like a unit for someone with a 12 series MOS?

CSM Charles Hayden there were some pre-reqs that I met. GT score, security clearance, etc. But being downrange I wouldn't be able to get an interview done until I got back anyway. And I've only been 12 series for relatively short amount of time. Most of my career I was active duty infantry. I appreciate your comment. I am trying to do as much research as I can, just on here for insight I might not have thought of.

The units won't always have their own selection, because Civil Affairs Assessment and Selection (CAAS) course accomplishes this task.

CPT (Join to see) incorrectly, reserve does not attend the same training course. Both sides of CA are very very different because they bring very different stuff to the table
