Today is National EOD Day. National Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Day is a United States (U.S.) observance held on the first Saturday in May. It honors members of the U.S. Armed Forces who have risked their lives in disposing explosives.
We honor our fallen Heroes, mourn their loss and celebrate their lives.

Excellent share. The number of lives they've saved at the risk of their own. Heroes!

Really, I never heard of that. My method of EOD was to set off an explosive right next to whatever was found. Disarming something? Not me.

TSgt David L. - Fortunately I never ran across a situation where disarming was the only option, except in training. In those cases the explosives were usually just enough gun powder to let you know you failed. I never failed.

SGT Robert Pryor - Good deal. A few feet of det cord or other "Penalty" is enough to drive the point home so you learn your lesson! Thankfully you learned ahead of time.
We have a ton of specialized tools including robots to do a lot of the dirty work. The bad guys always find a way to counter our efforts. Days like today are for remembering our Heroes who died trying to save others.
